Production version 2.2 released

On July 13, 2008, production version 2.2 was made available.

Version 2.2 replaces version 2.0 as the current "production" version, recommended for first-time users. Please see the next section for download and install information.
Test version 2.1.8 released

Test version 2.1.8 was made available on July 12, 2008.

JMRI 2.1.8 is the most recent test release, containing the latest and greatest JMRI updates. This is the (hopefully) final test release before the next JMRI production release. As such, it has only minor changes over the 2.1.7 test release. For more information, including the links to download a copy, please see the release note. Version 2.2 is the current "production" version, recommended for first-time users.

If you've never installed a version of this program before, please read the installation guide (on the left) for your computer type and layout hardware. They will show you how to install the things that are needed before the program will run.

As the program develops, we also produce test versions. You may want to try these, as new features will show up in them first. They are announced in the JMRI users email group.

JMRI Developer Release 2.1.8

Test version 2.1.8 was made available on July 12, 2008.

This is the (hopefully) final test release before the
next JMRI production release. As such, it has only minor changes over the 2.1.7 test release.

Test version 2.1.7 was made available on July 7, 2008.

  • Support for the new model railroad controls based on the CAN bus, including CBus.

JMRI Developer Release 2.1.4

Test version 2.1.4 was made available on March 8, 2008.

Some key changes include several new and updated decoder definitions, improved addressing for the Grapevine system, fix to a problem with certain NCE EPROM versions, ability to dim lights attached via X10 systems, and improvements to how closed windows are handled.

Test version 2.1.3 was made available on February 21, 2008.

Some key changes include support for the X10 power adapters, improved consisting support, additional sounds and graphics for creating USS CTC panels, lots of additions to the help screens and several decoder definitions were added and improved.

JMRI Developer Release 2.1.2

Test version 2.1.2 was made available on February 18, 2008. Due to a problem discovered after release, it was rapidly replaced by JMRI 2.1.3. Version 2.1.2 is no longer recommended for installation.

CATS
CATS

The Crandic Automated Traffic System (CATS) is a JMRI-based application by Rodney Black for controlling and operating a model railroad. There's more information on the CATS web site.

Version 40 of CATS (current December 1, 2007) requires JMRI 1.8; the test releases in the JMRI 1.9 series are not recommended at this time for use with CATS.
