JMRI 2.6.1 - Production release

If you've never installed a version of this program before, please read the installation guide (on the left) for your computer type and layout hardware. They will show you how to install the things that are needed before the program will run.

As the program develops, we also produce test versions. You may want to try these, as new features will show up in them first. They are announced in the JMRI users email group.

JMRI Developer Release 2.7.8

Test version 2.7.8 was made available on November 15, 2009.

Some key changes include

• Many improvements to JMRI throttles
• New Warrant feature for scripted running of trains
• Support for lunar (4th appearance) signals
• New "Jynstruments" capability for extending JMRI tools

JMRI Developer Release 2.7.7

Test version 2.7.7 was made available on October 19, 2009.

Some key changes include

• Additional formatting options for panel icons (both layout and panel editor types)
• Multiple improvements to the throttle windows
• Support for CBUS DCC
• Improvements to how user names are handled

JMRI Developer Release 2.7.6

Test version 2.7.6 was made available on October 4, 2009.

Some key changes include

• Many improvements to icons in the panel and layout editors, including many new formatting options.
• New audio support, including a new SoundPro application.
• Roster entries can now contain pictures of your locomotives, which can also be used in the throttles.

JMRI Developer Release 2.7.5

Test version 2.7.5 was made available on September 7, 2009.

Some key changes include

• Better handling of local files for panels, icons, etc, to make it easier to move your work from one computer to another.
• Improved SoundTraxx decoder definitions, but see the warnings.
• Many improvements to the usability of the Panel Editor, including the ability to grab and move groups of icons, and better control over placement and rotation.
• Great new Audio support.

JMRI Developer Release 2.7.4

Test version 2.7.4 was made available on July 24, 2009.

Some key changes include

• Improved support for the ECoS command station
• A much better method of storing panel files so they can be moved between computers
• Improvements to Signal Head editing, Logix and Conditionals

CATS

The Crandic Automated Traffic System (CATS) is a JMRI-based application by Rodney Black for controlling and operating a model railroad. There's more information on the CATS web site.

The current version of CATS requires JMRI 2.5.5 or later; we recommend you use it with the JMRI 2.6.1 production version.

The earlier version 2.15/2.06 of CATS (current as of July 4, 2009) required JMRI 2.0 through 2.5.3. We recommend use of JMRI 2.5.3 with these earlier version of CATS.
