Test version 2.9.3 released

Test version 2.9.3 was made available on January 27, 2010

JMRI 2.9.3 is the most recent test release, containing the latest and greatest JMRI updates.

This is the third of a series working toward an eventual JMRI 2.10/3.0 production version in Summer 2010. (JMRI 2.9.2 was never released to general users)

For more information, including the links to download a copy, please see the release note. Version 2.8 is the current "production" version, recommended for first-time users.

Production version 2.8 released

On December 18, 2009, production version 2.8 was made available.

Version 2.8 replaces version 2.6.1 as the current "production" version, recommended for first-time users. Please see the next section for download and install information.

If you've never installed a version of this program before, please read the installation guide (on the left) for your computer type and layout hardware. They will show you how to install the things that are needed before the program will run.

As the program develops, we also produce test versions. You may want to try these, as new features will show up in them first. They are announced in the JMRI users email group.

  • New RXTX communications libraries makes installation easier
  • Settable preferences for many warning and info dialogs
  • DecoderPro manual updated
  • Lionel TMCC updated

Test version 2.9.1 was made available on January 7, 2010.

Some key changes include

  • Improved CBUS support
  • New aspect-based signaling support
  • Initial support for the Insteon 2412S adapter
  • Multiple throttle improvements

CATS
CATS

The Crandic Automated Traffic System (CATS) is a JMRI-based application by Rodney Black for controlling and operating a model railroad. There's more information on the CATS web site.

The current version of CATS requires JMRI 2.5.5 or later; we recommend you use it with the JMRI 2.6.1 production version.

The earlier version 2.15/2.06 of CATS (current as of July 4, 2009) required JMRI 2.0 through 2.5.3. We recommend use of JMRI 2.5.3 with these earlier version of CATS.
